Steve Hafner

Steve Hafner is the Co-Founder and CEO of Kayak.com. He helps drive our company strategy and is often seen studying our daily performance reports or giving detailed feedback on our evolving product designs.

Steve brings a bit of knowledge about marketing, e-commerce and online travel to Kayak. He helped found Orbitz, Inc., the online travel agency site, in November 1999 and led their business development, advertising sales, marketing, and product marketing activities. He left after the Orbitz IPO in December 2003 to start Kayak.

Before 1999, Steve worked as a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. During his time at BCG, Steve wrote a lot of PowerPoint decks - some of which were good. He began his career at the Marketing Corporation of America, now a unit of Interpublic Group.

Steve received a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
